Our Mission
To provide holistic community care that integrates medical, social, rehabilitation and supportive services for vulnerable populations, empowering individuals and families — especially older persons in rural Nigeria — to live healthier, more independent lives.
Our Vision
An inclusive Nigeria where older persons and vulnerable individuals have equitable access to compassionate, quality care and the dignity they deserve.
Core Values
Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Compassion.
Registered, purpose-built, rural-focused
El-Aged Care is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in Nigeria and recognized by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as a Non-Governmental Organization — Registration Number: RC1134133 (registered 12 August 2013).
El-Aged Care is dedicated to caring for the rural elderly by offering an alternative model of care and services to help alleviate the suffering experienced by many older people in need or at risk in rural areas.
Nigeria's population is ageing, but the traditional family-based care system is weakening — urbanization, migration and economic pressure mean fewer rural elders can rely on relatives for support. El-Aged Care was founded to close that gap with integrated care models that let older adults age well, physically, socially and psychologically, within their own communities rather than in isolation.
Also registered with the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCULM – EFCC), RN:SC 331400503; the National Planning Commission, NPC/NGO-IC/SEC.687; and holds ECOSOC (United Nations) Consultative Status.
The gap we exist to close
Rural health access gaps in Nigeria are stark. Rural communities often have limited healthcare infrastructure, inadequate transportation and reduced access to essential services, especially for chronic and age-associated conditions.
Older persons — particularly those with age-related disability, women and those with limited income — may be economically vulnerable, lack formal support systems, and rely on family care that is increasingly strained. Meanwhile, non-communicable diseases like hypertension and diabetes are rising, with many Nigerians unaware of their status until advanced stages.
In our target environment — rural and remote areas in Nigeria — community-based care models and preventive outreach are critical to reducing health disparities and improving population wellbeing.
What we're working toward
Comprehensive community care
Enable older adults in rural areas to access a broad range of health and community support services — medical, social, supportive care, recreational rehabilitation and social work for promoting, maintaining and restoring health and active living.
Age-friendly environments
Create accessible and inclusive built and social environments where older adults can age in place, enjoy good health, participate actively and live safely and securely.
Home care services
Provide suitable, supervised personnel to help older persons with health care (monitoring wellbeing, medication, dressing changes) or personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming) where disability or age create challenges.
Facility-based residential care
Offer board, care, shelter, supervision, meals, and personal care to older adults in care, assisting them with the activities of daily living.
Health education & self-management
Empower older persons to understand and manage chronic diseases and health behaviours, improving functional independence and quality of life.
Systems change & capacity building
Lead efforts to influence ageing-care policy and practice, engage stakeholders, and collaborate with like-minded organizations to expand care networks nationwide.
Our Board of Directors
Our board is responsible for governing El-Aged Care in carrying out the organization's mission.

A model that puts the person first
Through integrated, innovative care — especially our work on self-management for chronic disease — El-Aged Care has helped countless rural older adults hold onto their health, social connections, and independence. Our work continues to shape national conversations on ageing, care standards and inclusive policy for a demographic segment too often overlooked in public health planning.
Our Collective Spirit
At El-Aged Care, teamwork is not just a system — it's our way of life. Together, our workforce forms a single family with one mission: to restore dignity in care, and hope in health.
